UGC video editor comparisons
Which video editor to use for UGC on a phone, at a desk or for long videos, with one table of what each app costs and does, read from each company's own pages and dated.
Updated . Outside prices and features are read from each company's own pages on the dates shown with them.
Pick by what you film. For a free phone editor, our pick is VN: its help center says no export ever needs VN Pro, 4K included, and its on-device captions are free. For long recordings you want cut into shorts, our pick is Vizard, because its Creator plan billed yearly gives 600 minutes a month for $14.50, where Opus Clip Pro gives 300 minutes for $14.50. Stay on CapCut for templates, and on Descript for editing at a desk.
Picks rest on each app's own pricing page, help center and App Store listing, read on October 14, 2026. No app paid to be listed, and we haven't run one clip through all of them.
Which app fits which job?
| If you want… | Our pick | Because | Detail |
|---|---|---|---|
| A free phone editor with no watermark | VN | Exporting never needs VN Pro, up to 4K 60 fps VN help; on-device captions are free VN. Edits is the alternative if you post mostly to Reels. | VN review |
| Automatic silence and filler cutting on the cheapest subscription | InShot | AI Cut removes silence, filler words and breaths, and Pro is $19.99 a year in the US App Store. Its listing doesn't say whether AI Cut needs Pro. | InShot free vs Pro |
| Templates, effects, and the same editor on a computer | CapCut | The only app here with templates and editors on iPhone, Android, web, Mac and Windows. | CapCut alternatives compared |
| Long recordings edited as text, at a desk | Descript | Transcript editing with filler and gap removal; it doesn't run on phones Descript help. | Descript alternatives compared |
| A podcast or stream cut into shorts | Vizard | Twice Opus Clip Pro's minutes for the same yearly price, and unused minutes carry over Vizard help. | Opus Clip alternatives compared |
A pick that rests on a price or a plan line changes when that line does; the dates are on each page. AI actor tools (MakeUGC, Arcads) and narrated-video makers (Fliki) aren't editors, so they have reviews of their own below instead of a row here.
How do the editors compare, feature by feature?
One row per app, every cell from that app's own pages. The pages linked above go deeper on one app or one question and show only the rows that matter there; this is the only place the full table lives.

✓ yes · – partly or on some plans · × not listed on the app's own pages (that doesn't prove it's missing) · ? the official pages don't say. Hooks: – writes hook titles or hooks, ✓ also exports A/B versions. Checked on October 14, 2026. UGCLive's row isn't on the same footing: the app isn't released, so “In beta” means the feature is in our current test build, checked by our own team and nobody else.
- CapCut: A watermark appears only with a template's ending clip, a stock asset that needs attribution or the default outro. Auto captions are listed as Pro. The filler word remover is described for the desktop editor; the teleprompter is in the mobile app.
- InShot: AI Cut removes silence, filler words and breaths. The Swedish App Store listing says Pro removes the watermark and ads (and also opens with “No Watermark!”); the US listing doesn't mention a watermark. The teleprompter shows up only in the release notes; templates are text templates.
- VN Video Editor: Auto captions run free on the phone; filler word removal works in the cloud captioning mode, which uses credits.
- Captions: AI Trim removes pauses and “uhms”, on a plan the help page doesn't name; AI Edit is a Max feature. Manual edits export with no watermark on Free; AI Edit and other AI features used on Basic add one.
- Submagic: AI hook titles, silence and bad-take removal and clean audio are Pro and Business features; Starter has captions, B-roll and text-based trimming.
- VEED: Remove filler words and remove silences are included on paid plans and can be tried once on Free. The teleprompter is a separate free online tool.
- Descript: Remove filler words, Shorten word gaps and Remove retakes are limited on Free and spend AI credits. The teleprompter is built into the recorder; templates are layout packs.
- Opus Clip: Speech cleanup (pause and filler removal) starts on Starter; bad-take removal on Pro. “Auto hook” is on every plan; templates are brand templates.
- Splice: Splice's listing doesn't mention captions, filler cutting, a teleprompter or templates. That doesn't prove it lacks them.
- UGCLive: Not released. Auto captions, AI edit (pause, filler and retake cutting) and the hook writer with A/B/C versions work in our test build and are planned for Pro; Starter exports in that build carry no watermark. Nobody outside the team has checked these.

FAQUGC video editor comparisons FAQ
How are these comparisons made?
We read each app's own pricing page, help center and App Store listing on the date shown, and list every page we used. Where a fact comes from the press instead, the source list says so. We don't accept payment from any app listed.
Is UGCLive in these tables?
Yes, but not on the same footing. Other apps' cells come from their public pages; UGCLive's come from our own unreleased build and are marked "In beta". It is iPhone only, not on the App Store yet, and Pro is planned at $19 a month.
How often are prices checked?
Each page and table shows the day its prices were read. We re-read a company's pages when we update the page that covers it; there is no automatic check.
