Short answer
The TikTok affiliate program (TikTok Shop affiliate) pays you a commission, set by each seller, on products you tag in your videos and LIVEs. In the US you need 1,000 followers, to be 18 or older and US-based; the UK asks for 500 followers and the Philippines 600. You join in TikTok Studio under Monetization, commission is typically paid 15 days after delivery, and TikTok's US withdraw rules set the minimum at $2.
What is the TikTok affiliate program?
It's TikTok Shop's commission program for creators. Sellers list products with a commission rate; you add a product to your showcase, tag it in a video or LIVE, and earn that rate on every order that isn't refunded. You don't buy stock, ship anything or deal with returns, and the seller pays your commission, not the buyer and not you.
It's separate from TikTok's other ways to earn. The Creator Rewards Program pays for views of videos at least 1 minute long (our Creator Rewards calculator estimates it), and TikTok One is where brands hire creators for paid projects. What are the TikTok affiliate requirements in each country?

The UK keeps your access until you fall more than 100 followers below the threshold, so a dip to 450 doesn't switch it off. The Philippines also has a link-share-only account with no follower minimum, but it can't earn commission from videos or LIVEs. Can you join with fewer than 1,000 followers?
Not as a US affiliate: nothing on TikTok's US pages offers a route below 1,000. Between 1,000 and 5,000 followers you're automatically in the Creator Pilot Program, which limits you to 5 shoppable videos and 3 shoppable LIVEs a week, only lets you promote products from shops rated 95% or higher, and keeps you out of campaigns. The limits lift by themselves when you pass 5,000.
The one exception is promoting your own shop: an official or marketing account bound to a seller has no follower minimum (a marketing account promoting other sellers needs 5,000).
How do you become a TikTok affiliate, step by step?
- Open TikTok Studio
In the TikTok app, open TikTok Studio, the creator toolkit, from your profile.
- Go to Monetization, then TikTok Shop for Creator
Tap Join now. If you don't see it, you don't meet the follower, age or country rule yet.
- Verify who you are
Pass Creator Identity Verification, and confirm your age within 2 months of registering, or access is paused.
- Add a payout method
In the US, a bank account or PayPal; in the UK, a UK bank account through Stripe.
- Pick products from the marketplace
Sort by commission and read the shop's rating. Add the product to your showcase.
- Film and tag
Post a video with the product tagged, or pin it in a LIVE. In the US, show your face and the physical product (see the faceless rule below).
How does TikTok affiliate commission work?
TikTok's US formula is (revenue − refunds) × commission rate, where revenue is the product price before tax minus any discount the seller funds. The seller sets the rate, anywhere from 1% to 80%, and can invite you to a target collaboration at a higher rate than the open one. Sellers can also set a separate Shop Ads commission, from 1% to 80%, for orders that come through an ad built on your post, so a boosted video can pay a different rate from the one on the product card. A fully refunded order pays nothing, and a partial refund cuts the commission.
Seller discounts come off your base. The $34.99 hair tool below pays $3.50 a sale at 10%; with a $5 seller discount it pays $3.00. Your dashboard's "estimated commission" also ignores refunds until they happen, so the number can drop before payday.
How much does one TikTok Shop sale pay?
We ran three typical products through our TikTok Shop earnings calculator, each with 10% of orders returned, to see what one sale pays and how many sales it takes to earn $100.

Our pick: choose products by commission per sale, not by rate. Basis: in this table the blender at 8% pays $4.25 a sale after returns against $2.34 for the lip balm set at 20%, so it needs 24 sales to reach $100 instead of 43. The cheaper product can still win if it sells several times as often, which only your own results will show.
When do TikTok affiliates get paid, and what's the payment threshold?
- When: typically 15 days after the order is delivered in the US, and only once the seller's order settles; an open return, refund or dispute holds it. In the UK, on the 3rd or 15th day after delivery, depending on the seller's settlement period.
- Minimum withdrawal (US): $2, to a bank account or PayPal. The other figures online ($10, $20, $50) don't appear on TikTok's page.
- Withdrawal fees (US): $0.05 per bank transfer, or 0.9% of the amount to PayPal.
- UK: payouts go to a UK bank account through Stripe, after identity checks, and TikTok starts one automatically every 90 days if you have a balance.
How do free samples work for TikTok affiliates?
In the US, only creators who've made a sale in the last 120 days can request free samples, so your first videos are of products you already own or buy. After that you can request one sample of a product per seller, up to a monthly limit set by your creator badge (20 at Bronze and Silver, up to 100 at the top badges).
- The seller has 7 days to approve your request, or it's cancelled.
- Once it arrives you have 14 days to post shoppable content about it.
- Refundable samples: you buy at full price inside TikTok Shop and get the money back once your content brings in the sales the seller set (since April 3, 2025; your own purchases don't count). Miss it within 90 days and it stays a normal purchase.
A refundable sample is the only time paying first is part of the real program, and it happens at TikTok Shop's own checkout. A "brand" that asks you to pay by transfer, gift card or crypto to release commission is a scam; our TikTok Shop scam checklist shows how to tell them apart.
Can you be a faceless TikTok Shop affiliate?
Not with fully faceless videos in the US. TikTok Shop's US content policy (dated October 9, 2026) asks for visuals that "feature your face and the physical product" and says not to use still, looping or scrolling images through a whole video without them. It also asks for at least 3 seconds of moving footage, and rules out stock footage and reposted content.
- Hands-only demos are common on TikTok, but they don't meet the written rule. We haven't measured how strictly TikTok enforces it; if a video is ever flagged, the policy is what an appeal is judged on, so put yourself on camera with the product for at least part of it.
- AI is allowed in videos as long as you disclose it clearly and don't use it to make a product look more effective than it is. By that rule, an AI voiceover on a recorded video is fine once disclosed; our free voice generator makes one.
- No AI voiceover in LIVEs: TikTok's policy rules out AI-generated audio and narration during LIVE videos.
- Every video must be new: no reposting old content, and no edits or filters to disguise copied videos.
