Free online teleprompter

A free online teleprompter that runs in your browser. Paste your script, pick a reading speed and press Start. No sign-up, and your script stays on your device.

Okay, I need to tell you about the one thing that fixed my mornings. I used to hit snooze four times and still run late. Then I started laying everything out the night before. Clothes, keys, coffee, all of it. Now I'm out the door in ten minutes, and I actually have time to eat breakfast. If your mornings feel rushed, try it for one week. Let me know how it goes.

What is a teleprompter?

A teleprompter shows your script scrolling at a steady speed close to the camera, so you can read every word while still looking at the viewer. Studio rigs put a sheet of angled glass in front of the lens and reflect the screen onto it, which is why teleprompter apps can mirror the text. For phone and webcam videos you don't need the glass: keep the text small and near the lens and most viewers won't notice your eyes moving.

This online teleprompter does that in a browser tab. Paste a script, pick a speed in words per minute and press Start. It works on a laptop next to your webcam, on a tablet under a camera, or in fullscreen on a monitor behind teleprompter glass.

Tips for reading a UGC script naturally

  • Write it the way you talk

Use contractions, short sentences and the words you'd use with a friend. If a line feels stiff when you say it out loud, rewrite it before you record.

  • Break lines where you breathe

Put each thought on its own line and leave a blank line between beats. The gaps give you natural places to pause and make the script easier to keep your place in.

  • Keep the text close to the lens

Make the browser window small and move it right under your webcam, or use a narrower text area with a bigger font. The less your eyes travel, the less it looks like you're reading.

  • Set the speed a little slow

Start around 140 to 150 words per minute and do one practice run. It's easier to sound relaxed when the text waits for you than when you're chasing it.

  • Know the hook by heart

The first line matters most, so say it from memory while looking straight at the camera, then let the teleprompter carry the rest.

  • Keep going after a slip

Pause, back up a line with the left arrow key, and say it again. A retake in the middle of a take is easy to cut out afterwards.

Teleprompter speed guide

Conversational speech usually runs around 130 to 160 words per minute. Use the table as a starting point, then adjust after a practice run. At 150 words per minute, a 15-second video is about 38 words, a 30-second ad about 75 and a 60-second video about 150.

Words per minuteSoundsGood for
110–130Slow and deliberateTutorials, step-by-step demos, product details and prices, or reading in a second language.
130–160ConversationalMost UGC ads, testimonials and talking-to-camera videos. 150 is the default here.
160–180Quick and upbeatHigh-energy hooks, lists and short TikToks.
180+FastHard to sound natural at. Try trimming the script before raising the speed.

FAQ

Teleprompter FAQ

Is this teleprompter really free?

Yes. It's free with no sign-up, no watermark and no time limit. It runs entirely in your browser.

Does it work on a phone or tablet?

Yes, in current versions of Safari, Chrome and Firefox on iPhone, iPad and Android. iPhone Safari can't make a web page truly fullscreen, so there the fullscreen button fills the browser window instead. To read and record on the same iPhone, use the UGCLive app's teleprompter camera.

How do I use mirror mode with teleprompter glass?

Teleprompter glass reflects the screen beneath it, which reverses the text. Turn on Mirror (or press M) to flip the text left to right so it reads correctly in the glass. If it still looks upside down in your rig, turn on Flip as well.

How fast should I read?

Conversational speech usually runs around 130 to 160 words per minute, and 150 is the default here. For a UGC ad, start at 140 to 150, do one practice run and adjust. Slow down for product names, prices and steps.

Is my script saved or uploaded?

Your script and settings are saved in this browser's local storage so they're there next time. They're never sent to a server. If you turn on the camera preview, the video is shown only on your screen; nothing is recorded or uploaded.

Can I record video while reading?

This page shows your camera so you can check framing and eye line, but it doesn't record. The UGCLive app for iPhone has a teleprompter camera: your script scrolls over the camera while you record, holds its place between takes, and the AI editor then cuts the pauses and retakes.

What are the keyboard shortcuts?

Space starts and pauses, the up and down arrows change the speed, the left and right arrows move back or forward a line, + and − change the text size, R goes back to the top, M turns mirroring on or off and F goes fullscreen.
