What is the TikTok safe zone?
The TikTok safe zone is the area of a 1080 × 1920 video that TikTok's interface doesn't cover. TikTok publishes it as a safe zone file for In-Feed ads: 240 px clear at the top, 660 px at the bottom, 120 px on each side, and the right 300 px kept clear from 840 px down, where the button column sits.
TikTok also says the safe zone depends on the caption length and on add-ons such as product links (anchors): the longer the caption, the less room is left. Videos with a product link have their own, stricter file, which the checker shows when you tick "With a product link".
What covers your video on TikTok
- Top: Following, For You, LIVE and the search button.
- Right column: the creator's profile picture and follow button, like, comment, save and share, and the spinning sound disc at the bottom.
- Bottom left: the product link on TikTok Shop videos, then @username, the caption (it grows with every line) and the sound name.
- On ads: a full-width button such as Shop now or Learn more under the caption.
- Very bottom: Home, Friends, the + button, Inbox and Profile.

TikTok: TikTok's In-Feed safe zone file: 240 px top, 660 px bottom, 120 px each side, and the right 300 px from 840 px down (the button column). With a product link (TikTok Shop): TikTok's In-Feed with Anchor file, one line of caption: 252 px top, 812 px bottom, 120 px each side, and the right 240 px from 360 px down. Four lines of caption push the bottom to 1014 px.
These figures are approximate. They come from each platform's published ad specs, checked on 2026-10-13; the apps change their layouts, captions vary in length and phones differ in shape, so check a real post before you deliver. The grey shapes in the checker are a rough drawing of each app, not a published spec.
Why the safe zone matters for UGC ads and TikTok Shop videos
- On TikTok Shop videos the product link sits right where most creators put their burned-in captions, so the subtitles end up under the link and the caption.
- TikTok ads add a call-to-action button over the bottom of the video, so an offer or price in the lower third is covered for the whole ad.
- Brands often re-cut UGC into Spark Ads; text that's clear on your organic post can still be covered once the ad button is added.
Tips for placing text on TikTok
- Place the hook text below 240 px so the Following and For You tabs don't cover it.
- Keep burned-in captions above about 1260 px, or 1108 px on a Shop video with a product link.
- Hold products and faces left of centre in the lower half: the button column covers the right 300 px from 840 px down.
- Keep the written caption short. Every extra line pushes TikTok's caption block further up your video.

FAQTikTok Safe Zone FAQ
What is the TikTok safe zone in pixels?
In TikTok's In-Feed safe zone file, scaled to 1080 × 1920: leave 240 px at the top, 660 px at the bottom and 120 px on each side, and from 840 px down keep out of the right 300 px, where the like, comment, save and share buttons sit.
Where do I get a TikTok safe zone template?
Pick TikTok above and press Download. You get a transparent 1080 × 1920 PNG to lay over your edit. TikTok Ads Manager also links its own safe zone files on its video ad specs page.
Why are my TikTok captions hidden?
Text placed in the bottom third sits under TikTok's caption, username, sound name and, on Shop videos and ads, the product link or ad button. Move burned-in captions up so their bottom edge stays above about 1260 px, or about 1108 px on a video with a product link.
Does a long caption change the TikTok safe zone?
Yes. TikTok says the safe zone depends on the ad caption length and add-ons such as anchors: a longer caption takes more of the screen. Keep captions short, or leave extra room at the bottom.
Is the TikTok Shop safe zone different?
Yes, it's stricter. A product link sits above the caption, and TikTok's file for videos with one leaves 812 px at the bottom with a one-line caption (1014 px with four lines) and keeps the right 240 px clear from 360 px down. Tick "With a product link" in the checker to see it.
Are these numbers exact?
They're from TikTok's own file, checked on 2026-10-13, but the app changes and phones differ. Treat them as a guide and check a real post.
