Best time to post on TikTok
Best time to post on TikTok: Sprout Social and Hootsuite say weekday afternoons, Buffer says evenings and Saturday, and all three meet Fri 3–7 p.m.. The tool shows today's windows in your own time.

Best time to post on TikTok: the short answer
- Sprout Social and Hootsuite
- Weekday afternoons, about 1–6 p.m.
- Buffer (7.1M posts)
- Evenings, 6–11 p.m., and Saturdays
- All three meet
- Fri 3–7 p.m.
- No two meet
- Tuesday
Sprout Social and Hootsuite put TikTok's best weekday hours in the afternoon. Buffer, with the biggest TikTok sample (7.1 million posts), finds the opposite: its page says afternoons (12–5 p.m.) "tend to see lower engagement across most days" and that engagement picks up from 6 to 11 p.m. The one window all three studies share is Fri 3–7 p.m.. Times are your audience's local time; set their time zone in the tool and it shows them in yours.
What did each TikTok study measure?
| Study | Best times | Best days | Weakest | What it measured | Sample |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sprout Social Mar 31, 2026 | Tuesday to Thursday, 2–6 p.m. | Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday | Sunday (no peak hours at weekends) | Engagements | Nearly 2 billion engagements on about 307,000 profiles of 30,000+ Sprout customers (Nov 27, 2025 – Feb 27, 2026) |
| Buffer Sep 14, 2026 | Sunday at 9 a.m. | Saturday, then Monday and Sunday | Wednesday and Thursday are quieter | Engagement | 7.1 million+ TikTok posts published through Buffer |
| Hootsuite Nov 19, 2025 | Thursday 7–9 a.m. and Saturday 10 a.m.–7 p.m. | Thursday and Saturday | Weekend mornings before 7 a.m. | Engagement | 1 million+ social posts across networks, with Critical Truth |
- Hootsuite: Hootsuite's TikTok page disagrees with itself: its summary says Thursday 6–9 a.m. and Saturday 10 a.m.–6 p.m., its day-by-day section says 7–9 a.m. and 10 a.m.–7 p.m. We use the day-by-day times. Its all-networks summary says Thursday 7–11 a.m.
The three answers differ partly because they count different things. Sprout Social adds up roughly 2 billion engagements on 307,000 of its customers' profiles over three months to February 27, 2026, so big accounts weigh more. Buffer takes the median engagement rate of each slot across 7.1 million posts, which treats a small account's post the same as a large one's. Hootsuite pools over a million posts from several networks and localises them across 118 countries.
Where do the TikTok studies agree, and where don't they?
- Afternoons. Sprout Social's windows all fall between 1 and 8 p.m. Hootsuite's Wednesday and Friday picks overlap them, and its Monday 5 p.m. follows straight on from Sprout Social's 3–5 p.m. Buffer says the same hours are generally weaker, with lunchtime as the exception.
- Weekends. Sprout Social finds no peak hours on Saturday or Sunday and calls Sunday the worst day. Buffer calls Saturday "the strongest day on TikTok overall" and has Sunday 9 a.m. as its best single slot. Hootsuite's Saturday window runs 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Mornings. Buffer's top Tuesday slot is 6 a.m. and Hootsuite's Thursday is 7–9 a.m.; Sprout Social has nothing before 1 p.m.
- Days with no overlap at all: Tuesday. The tool shows each study's own times there instead of a combined answer.
TikTok posting times by day
| Day | Sprout Social | Buffer | Hootsuite | Where they meet |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Monday | 3–5 p.m. | 1 p.m., then 11 a.m. and 8 a.m. | 5 p.m. | 3–6 p.m. (2 of 3) |
| Tuesday | 2–6 p.m. | 6 a.m., then 10 p.m. and 7 a.m. | 10 a.m.–1 p.m. | Split: no two studies meet |
| Wednesday | 1–8 p.m. | 10 p.m., then 6 a.m. and 9 p.m. | 4–6 p.m. | 1–8 p.m. (2 of 3) |
| Thursday | 1–5 p.m. | 1 p.m., then 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. | 7–9 a.m. | 6–9 a.m. (2 of 3), 1–5 p.m. (2 of 3) |
| Friday | 3–5 p.m. | 6 p.m., then 10 p.m. and 8 p.m. | 4–6 p.m. | 3–7 p.m. (3 of 3) |
| Saturday | No peak hours; suggests avoiding | 5 p.m., then 4 p.m. and 3 p.m. | 10 a.m.–7 p.m. | 10 a.m.–7 p.m. (2 of 3) |
| Sunday | No peak hours; suggests avoiding | 9 a.m., then 1 p.m. and 12 p.m. | 8 a.m.–12 p.m. | 8 a.m.–2 p.m. (2 of 3) |
"Where they meet" joins any study windows that overlap or touch, counting Buffer's three ranked hours each, and keeps the ones at least two studies share. The span runs from the earliest of those windows to the latest, so "3–7 p.m. (3 of 3)" on Friday means Sprout Social's 3–5, Hootsuite's 4–6 and Buffer's 6 p.m. slot together.
Best time to post on TikTok on Monday
On Mondays the studies meet at 3–6 p.m. (2 of 3), in your audience's local time. Sprout Social's 3–5 p.m. runs straight into Hootsuite's 5 p.m.; Buffer ranks Monday its second-best day but puts its picks earlier.
- Sprout Social: 3–5 p.m.
- Buffer: 1 p.m., then 11 a.m. and 8 a.m.
- Hootsuite: 5 p.m.
Best time to post on TikTok on Tuesday
The studies don't agree on Tuesdays: no two of them name times that meet. Tuesday is the one day with no overlap: Buffer likes 6 a.m., Hootsuite late morning and Sprout Social the afternoon.
- Sprout Social: 2–6 p.m.
- Buffer: 6 a.m., then 10 p.m. and 7 a.m.
- Hootsuite: 10 a.m.–1 p.m.
Best time to post on TikTok on Wednesday
On Wednesdays the studies meet at 1–8 p.m. (2 of 3), in your audience's local time. Sprout Social's widest window of the week (1–8 p.m.) holds Hootsuite's 4–6 p.m.; Buffer says Wednesday is quieter overall and puts two of its three picks at night.
- Sprout Social: 1–8 p.m.
- Buffer: 10 p.m., then 6 a.m. and 9 p.m.
- Hootsuite: 4–6 p.m.
Best time to post on TikTok on Thursday
On Thursdays the studies meet at 6–9 a.m. (2 of 3) and 1–5 p.m. (2 of 3), in your audience's local time. Thursday has two meeting points: early morning (Buffer's 6 a.m. against Hootsuite's 7–9 a.m.) and the afternoon (Buffer's top slot, 1 p.m., at the start of Sprout Social's 1–5 p.m.).
- Sprout Social: 1–5 p.m.
- Buffer: 1 p.m., then 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.
- Hootsuite: 7–9 a.m.
Best time to post on TikTok on Friday
On Fridays the studies meet at 3–7 p.m. (3 of 3), in your audience's local time. Friday is the only day all three meet, in late afternoon.
- Sprout Social: 3–5 p.m.
- Buffer: 6 p.m., then 10 p.m. and 8 p.m.
- Hootsuite: 4–6 p.m.
Best time to post on TikTok on Saturday
On Saturdays the studies meet at 10 a.m.–7 p.m. (2 of 3), in your audience's local time. Saturday splits the studies more than any other day. Buffer calls it "the strongest day on TikTok overall" and its three Saturday slots (3, 4 and 5 p.m.) all fall inside Hootsuite's 10 a.m.–7 p.m. Sprout Social finds no peak hours and suggests skipping it. Buffer gives no figure for how much better Saturday does; its page says only that other slots "weren't far behind".
- Sprout Social: No peak hours; suggests avoiding
- Buffer: 5 p.m., then 4 p.m. and 3 p.m.
- Hootsuite: 10 a.m.–7 p.m.
Best time to post on TikTok on Sunday
On Sundays the studies meet at 8 a.m.–2 p.m. (2 of 3), in your audience's local time. Buffer's best slot of the whole week is Sunday at 9 a.m., inside Hootsuite's 8 a.m.–12 p.m.; Sprout Social calls Sunday the weakest day.
- Sprout Social: No peak hours; suggests avoiding
- Buffer: 9 a.m., then 1 p.m. and 12 p.m.
- Hootsuite: 8 a.m.–12 p.m.

For product videos, Sprout Social's retail and food rows follow its overall answer: weekday afternoons, weekends weakest. Neither study publishes a row for beauty or for TikTok Shop sellers.
What does TikTok itself say about timing?
- TikTok publishes no best hour. Its help page on how TikTok recommends content lists what shapes the For You feed: what each viewer likes, shares, comments on and watches in full or skips; the video's sounds, hashtags and view count; and the viewer's device settings, language, location, "time zone and day". It says the viewer's interactions usually weigh the most.
- Its 2020 newsroom post says "neither follower count nor whether the account has had previous high-performing videos are direct factors", and that videos just uploaded or under review may not be recommended yet (TikTok Newsroom, June 18, 2020).
- In analytics, "Follower activity is displayed in your local time zone, while all other analytics data is displayed in UTC", and analytics only cover videos posted after you turn the feature on (My posts aren't getting views).
Checked October 14, 2026.
How do you find your own TikTok audience's hours?
- Open TikTok Studio (the app, or the creator tools in TikTok) and go to Analytics. TikTok's TikTok Studio page lists a Viewers tab with "activity times of your viewers" and a Followers tab with follower demographics.
- Read the activity chart as your local time. Everything else in TikTok analytics is in UTC, so a video posted at 6 p.m. in New York shows under 10 or 11 p.m. in the content charts, depending on daylight saving time.
- If the demographics on the Viewers or Followers tab show most viewers in another time zone, set that zone in the tool above.
- Over two or three weeks, post similar videos in two slots, one the studies like and one your chart likes, and compare views 24 hours after each post.
When should UGC creators and TikTok Shop sellers post?
- TikTok Shop: we found no published study with a stated sample that measures when Shop buyers check out by hour, so we don't give one. Pages that claim a "best time for sales" don't say where their numbers come from. Your order times in Seller Center or the affiliate dashboard are the data to use (the TikTok Shop seller guide covers Seller Center).
- Paid UGC: ask the brand where its buyers are; its sales data knows their time zone better than your follower chart. A Spark Ad runs on the brand's campaign schedule, so your posting time matters only for the organic post.
- The caption: write it before the slot comes up, with the words people would search for. The TikTok caption writer drafts five, with a Shop call to action and #ad when you need them.
- How often: Buffer's page says "Posting consistently matters more than posting every single day." Hootsuite's says TikTok recommends 1–4 posts a day; we didn't find that number on TikTok's own help pages.

How to use Best time to post on TikTok
- 1
Open on TikTok
The page starts on TikTok's three studies. The chips switch to another platform if you post the same video there.
- 2
Match the time zone in TikTok Studio
TikTok shows follower activity in your local time. If those followers mostly live elsewhere, pick their time zone as the audience's, and the windows convert to yours.
- 3
Post in the next shared window
The countdown points at the next window two or more studies share. On Tuesday no two studies meet, so the tool lists each one's times instead.
FAQBest time to post on TikTok FAQ
What is the best time to post on TikTok?
The studies disagree. Sprout Social says Tuesday to Thursday, 2–6 p.m.; Hootsuite's day-by-day times are mostly afternoons too. Buffer, with 7.1 million posts, finds afternoons weaker and evenings (6–11 p.m.) stronger, with Sunday 9 a.m. its best slot. All three meet only Fri 3–7 p.m., in your audience's local time.
What is the best time to post on TikTok today?
Open the tool at the top of this page: it detects your day and time zone, lists today's windows in your time and counts down to the next one. Each weekday also has its own section further down.
What is the best day to post on TikTok?
It depends on the study. Sprout Social says Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday; Buffer ranks Saturday first, then Monday and Sunday; Hootsuite's top windows are on Thursday and Saturday.
Should I post on TikTok on weekends?
The studies split. Sprout Social finds no peak hours on Saturday or Sunday and calls Sunday the worst day, while Buffer calls Saturday its strongest day and Hootsuite gives Saturday 10 a.m.–7 p.m. Try a few weekend posts and compare them with your weekday ones.
Are TikTok's analytics in my time zone?
Partly. TikTok's help center says follower activity is shown in your local time zone and all other analytics in UTC. Keep that in mind when you compare a video's views by hour with your follower chart.
When is the best time to post TikTok Shop videos?
We found no published study with a stated sample that measures when TikTok Shop buyers check out by hour, so we don't give one. Post when your followers are active, and compare your own order times in Seller Center or your affiliate dashboard.
How often should I post on TikTok?
None of these studies measures frequency day by day. Buffer's page says posting consistently matters more than posting every day. Hootsuite's says TikTok recommends 1–4 posts a day, a figure we didn't find on TikTok's own help pages.
