Opus Clip alternatives

The tools that clip long videos into shorts like Opus Clip does, priced per minute of source video, with what each free plan gives and where each one is the wrong tool.

Updated . Outside prices and features are read from each company's own pages on the dates shown with them.

Short answer

The direct Opus Clip alternatives are other clippers: Vizard, quso.ai (formerly Vidyo AI) and 2short.ai. Our pick is Vizard, because Creator billed yearly gives 600 minutes of video a month for $14.50, twice the 300 minutes Opus Clip Pro gives for $14.50, and unused minutes carry over. Free, quso.ai allows the most (75 minutes a month). If you film short ads instead of long videos, you don't need a clipper at all.

Opus Clip, Vizard, quso.ai and 2short read on their own pricing and help pages on October 14, 2026. We didn't run one video through all four.

How do the Opus Clip alternatives compare per minute of video?

All four bill by minutes of the long video you put in, not by clips you get out, so the fair comparison is price per source minute on each tool's main plan.

Long-video clippers per minute of source video, if you use the whole allowance (our arithmetic on each tool's listed prices)
ToolFree planPlan comparedPriceMinutes a monthPer minuteHow video gets in
Opus Clip60 min a month, watermark, exports kept 3 daysPro, billed yearly$14.50/mo ($174/yr)3004.8¢Upload or link, up to 10 hours
Vizard60 min a month, 720p, watermark, projects kept 3 daysCreator, billed yearly$14.50/mo ($174/yr)6002.4¢Upload, up to 600 min on Creator
quso.ai (Vidyo AI)75 min a month, 720p, data kept 7 daysEssential, billed yearly$19.50/mo ($234/yr)3006.5¢Upload over 3 minutes long, up to 5 hours
2short.ai15 or 30 min of analysis a month (its page says both)Lite, monthly only$9.90/mo3003.3¢A YouTube link to a video with captions

Read the last column before the per-minute one. 2short is the cheapest per minute, but only for videos already on YouTube with captions. quso.ai's AI Clips won't run on a video under 3 minutes quso.ai help. Opus Clip's Starter ($15 a month, 150 minutes, monthly only) works out to 10.0¢ a minute, the dearest paid option here.

Which Opus Clip alternative is free?

All of them have a free tier, and each gives something different. quso.ai gives 75 minutes of upload a month at 720p quso.ai pricing. Vizard gives 60 minutes at 720p with a watermark, and deletes projects after 3 days Vizard help. 2short's free Starter has every feature and exports 1080p with no watermark, but its allowance is listed as both 30 and 15 minutes on the same page 2short.ai. For comparison, Opus Clip's own free plan is 60 minutes with a watermark Opus Clip.

What is 2short.ai, and when does it make sense?

2short.ai is the narrowest of the four: it makes vertical shorts from a YouTube video and nothing else. Plans differ only in hours of analysis (5, 15 and 50 hours a month for $9.90, $19.90 and $49.90), billed monthly with no yearly option listed. For a YouTuber clipping their own captioned uploads, Pro works out to 2.2¢ a minute.

  • Every plan has every feature; plans differ in hours of AI analysis.

    2short.ai
  • You start from a link, not an upload: its pricing FAQ says a YouTube link, and its app now also takes Google Drive links. It can only process videos that have captions.

    2short.ai
  • Besides clips, the app now lists a script writer and title, description, chapter and tag generators.

    2short.ai
  • Exports are 1080p with no watermark.

    2short.ai
  • Face tracking keeps the speaker centered; animated subtitles, brand logos and overlays, and vertical, square or horizontal output.

    2short.ai

It publishes no terms of service, refund or cancellation page, only a privacy policy; the support address on its site is hey@2short.ai. If you would need a refund, that is a reason to pick one of the other three.

Do other editors clip long videos too?

Some sell clipping as an extra. Submagic has a Magic Clips add-on at $19 a month for 10 uploads, on top of a plan from $19 a month Submagic help. VEED includes Clips on its paid plans VEED, and Captions lists clips among its Max features Captions help. They make sense if you already pay for that editor; bought for clipping alone, the four tools above give more minutes for the money.

What if you film short ads, not long videos?

Then a clipper is the wrong tool. A UGC ad filmed to a 30-second script has no long recording to mine; it needs pauses cut, captions and a strong first line. Phone editors do that: VN and Edits for free, InShot for a few dollars a year, compared on the CapCut alternatives compared page and in the hub's table. Our own app, UGCLive, is built for that job and doesn't clip long videos at all; it isn't released yet, and its Pro plan is planned at $19 a month.

What would change this ranking?

Clip quality, which we didn't test: we didn't upload one long video to every tool, so we can't say which picks better moments or frames faces better. The per-minute figures also assume you use every minute you pay for; Vizard's rollover Vizard help and Opus Clip's 60-day credit expiry Opus help matter if you don't.

FAQ

Opus Clip alternatives FAQ

What is a free alternative to Opus Clip?

quso.ai (75 free minutes a month, 720p) and Vizard (60 free minutes, 720p, watermark) both clip long videos free; 2short's free Starter gives 15 to 30 minutes from YouTube links, its page says both.

Can UGCLive clip a long video into shorts?

No. UGCLive, which isn't released yet, is built for short takes you film yourself, not for clipping long videos. For podcasts or streams, use a clipper like Vizard or Opus Clip.

What happened to 2short's review page?

We folded it into this page: 2short is a narrow tool (YouTube or Drive links to captioned videos only), and it fits better as one row next to the other clippers than as a page of its own.

Is Opus Clip good for UGC ads?

Only if your ad starts as a long recording. Its credits are counted in minutes of source video, and its strengths (virality score, reframing, clipping) are about finding clips in long footage.
