What does VN leave to you as a UGC creator?
VN is a full timeline editor, so the cut is yours to make. Here is what a talking-head ad needs and how VN handles each step, from its own pages.
| Step | In VN | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Read a script while filming | Teleprompter while you record (Google Play listing) | Not stated |
| Cut pauses and filler words | By hand on the timeline, or filler removal in cloud captioning | By hand free; cloud uses credits (100 credits for $1.00) |
| Caption every word | On-device auto captions (Tiny and Base models) | Free |
| Export 1080×1920 | Up to 4K, 24 to 60 fps | Free, no watermark |
| Write or test hooks | Not listed on VN's pages | Not applicable |
VN doesn't say how many credits a minute of cloud captioning uses, so we can't turn the credit price into a cost per video VN. The free version also shows ads App Store.
When is another app a better fit than VN?
When you want templates and effects, CapCut has far more; the CapCut alternatives compared page compares the phone editors, and the hub's table lines all of them up. When you want the pauses cut for you without paying per minute, InShot's AI Cut does it inside an app whose Pro costs $19.99 a year in the US (what InShot leaves free). Our own app, UGCLive, is being built around automatic pause and retake cutting for iPhone takes, but it isn't on the App Store yet, and Pro is planned at $19 a month where VN is free.
What couldn't we confirm about VN?
We read VN's listings and help pages; we didn't export a clip from the app, so the watermark claim is VN's own, not a screenshot of ours. VN's pages also don't say what VN Pro adds or which billing period each of its two prices is.
